  1. Regional survey report to inform policy on Architecture in the Caribbean and recommendations on lobbying approach.
  2. Report on Thematic Standards and Guidelines and recommendations on approach and potential Partnerships for implementation.
  3. Recommendations for a Continuing Professional Development programme and establishment of Partnerships for implementation.
  4. A strategy for the strengthening of ACSAC to implement the agenda - including a communications strategy.
  5. A work programme for ACSAC.

The work programme for ACSAC will focus on implementation of the policy agenda, continuing professional development programme and thematic guidelines. Examples:

  1. Policy issues: procurement process, registration legislation for architects, policy recommendations on forms of contract, policy recommendations on the approval process, policy recommendations on planning issues as related to architecture, policy recommendations on conservation.
  2. Continuing professional development (CPD): recommended structure and programmes; points / credit system; website.
  3. Themes including:
    1. Conservation guidelines in architecture: public awareness, merits of old cities, national trust, preservation and restoration guidelines.
    2. Sustainability in design –energy and water conservation, healthy living through design, use of sustainable materials, ensuring that the design impact on environment is evaluated prior to approval of designs, technology innovation, climate mediation measures, passive cooling guidelines.
    3. Tourism – introduction of sustainable design in tourism projects: energy and water consumption, waste disposal features, maintenance of cultural and relaxation purposes of tourism through architecture as opposed to invasion and exploitation, how to enhance local peculiarities, urban planning and development issues as they relate to tourism.
    4. The Strategy for strengthening ACSAC will address:

  1. Potential partners and international links to be established.
  2. Strategies for strengthening ACSAC’s existing structure, staffing, constitution.
  3. Revenue generating capacity.
  4. Communications/ lobbying strategy.
